Guest Post- Christmas Craft

This week we have a  Christmas craft guest post. Kay Fisher is the editior of Essential Childminder magazine and joins us this week to share an activity her mindies have had fun with this year.

Here at The Essential ChildMinder we have been making Christingles as a special table decoration to give to our Mummies and Daddies. Christingles are most commonly made for Christmas church services, they are made and lit to remind children of the true meaning of Christmas in a practical and visual way.
Christingles are made by placing a candle in an orange, sticking 4 cocktail sticks with dried fruits or sweets into the side of the orange, then wrapping a red ribbon around the centre. The orange symbolises the world, the candle is Jesus’ light, the red ribbon is the blood he sacrificed and the cocktail sticks represent the fruits of the earth.

We placed ours on cut toilet rolls to allow them to stand up, however you could use coloured card for a better effect. If you would like to see more ideas from Kay and the team please click http://www.essentialchildminder.co.uk/
