What is a tuff spot? Originally designed to be used as a builders cement tray, these are now regularly used in early years settings. These trays help to offer children sensory and small world experiences on a larger scale. Being flat pack these trays can be packed away easily and if you work as a childminder you could even settle for something smaller like a litter tray.
Do you ever have one of those days where you don't know where the time has gone? Of course you do and today was one of those days for me. This morning we have spent our time playing with a tuff spot of Shredded Wheat. It still amazes me that they can concentrate for so long on an activity if its exciting enough.
I always try to get the children involved in picking what they would like to play with when using a resource in the tuff spot. Today the children choose to have the farm animals out.
They had great fun pushing the animals down in the wheat to hear the sound of the wheat crunching. The animals were also covered in the wheat just like straw so they could have a little sleep.
