Small World: Hair gel under the sea

This week we tried an activity which we have not explored for a while. Using hair gel is a great idea for sensory ideas,  I think of it as a type of instant Jelly. Which is a great material for a mum like me who leaves everything till last minute. Hair gel is not only an easily resource to prepare but its also cheap to buy.

To begin with the children I look after started off nervous to put their hands into the hair gel. This is normal in our house when it comes to using sensory tubs. They picked up the sea animals with their finger tips and used the animals to move around the hair gel.

As usually happens it didn't take long for the children to get their hands stuck into the hair gel and start  experienting with how the hair gel moves and the sounds they could make with it. They loved the feel of it in between their fingers and the slight feeling of it sticking to their hand and the table.

  3. We just made a monster in a bag with hair gel, ziplock bags and googly eyes. I was surprised by how cold the gel got. It's definitely a different kind of sensation.
