With Easter on the horizon it’s time to start thinking about
how you’re going to spend those valuable extra days off work. As the weather
brightens up and summer moves closer, we all need to get ourselves outside and
make the most of that vitamin D! So, what’s going on this Easter and where can
we find it? Here are some of the best events happening in in the UK’s top
locations over the next couple of weeks.
London
Who doesn’t love a spring visit to the capital? Whether
you’re enjoying a weekend
break in London or you live in the area, you’ll be glad to know that
there’s plenty going on during the Easter break. This years’ major event that
is a must visit for anyone in the city is the incredible Feast of St George.
Celebrated in the iconic Trafalgar Square on Monday April 21st, you
can enjoy a full day of traditional English feasting and frolics including live
music, entertainers and even a spot of Morris dancing. There’s fun for the
whole family with food at the forefront of the party, with free tastings,
street-food stalls and high-class cookery demos dotted around. A children's
marquee will be set up for craft workshops and storytelling sessions, too.
Leeds
Heading further north and you can enjoy some really great
Easter events in Leeds this April. This cosmopolitan city is surrounded by
miles of Yorkshire countryside and some of the country’s finest stately homes -
one of which is Lotherton Hall. Until April 21st, visitors to this
Edwardian Country Estate can take on the family Easter Trail, exploring the extensive
grounds, Red Deer Park, bird garden, nature trails and historic stables for the
prizes. Great fun! The rest of the estate includes gardens, walks and two
children's play areas so you can spend the day there if the weather turns out
nice.
Kent
Kent is filled with brilliant attractions, and this Easter
there are a whole host of events waiting for you to get involved. Over Easter
weekend, Drusillas Zoo Park welcomes some weird and wonderful creatures into
its grounds for you to meet. Get up close to some of the world’s most quirky
creatures with a family ticket from just £44. The Animal Encounters Day takes
place on Good Friday but stick around until Easter Monday for the Reptile
Roadshow! It’ll be a hit whatever your age.
York
York is one of the most popular destinations for Easter Breaks
which is why the historic city hosts so many incredible events during the
holidays. Get out and about around this wonderful location by getting involved
with the York City Cycle Tour and discover places that the sightseeing bus
tours can’t reach. For just £20pp the whole family can borrow a bike and take a
tour of York, from the rivers to the buildings, historic landmarks to shopping
highlights. Book in advance though as it’s a very popular tour.
Edinburgh
The Scottish capital is a fantastic city break location
whatever the time of year, but during Easter it’s even more exciting. The
city’s famous Royal Botanic Gardens are hosting an exciting family event until
the 21st April – The Golden Bunny Hunt. Grab your activity pack and
explore the gardens until you discover the elusive golden bunny. Follow clues
and learn about the plant life and inhabitants along the way, a great way of
learning whilst you have fun. The gardens are open from 10am until 6pm so you
can spend as long as you want trying to find them!
Whatever you do this Easter, make sure you get out and about
as much as possible and take advantage of the fabulous destinations the UK has
to offer. Whether you’re staying at home or you’re paying a visit to a new
city, explore as much as you can whilst the weather stays fine!
