Oatmeal Play Dough Recipe's

By now most homes that have a love for play dough would have their own recipes which they get out every so often. We recently tried a new recipe which works well for the smaller children in our setting, oatmeal play dough. Over the last couple of week I have tried a couple of different options, one to suit the older children who would enjoy the different texture but still need the dough to roll out well without breaking up and one for young children with out salt content.

Oatmeal Play Dough for under two's:
  • 1 cup of Plain Flour
  • 2 cup Oatmeal
  • 1 cup Water
Oatmeal Play Dough for older children:
  • 1 1/2 cups of Plain Flour
  • 1/2 cup of Oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup of Salt
  • 2 table spoons of Vegetable Oil
  • 1 1/2 cups of Boiling water
  • 2 table spoons of Cream of Tartar
Both recipes require no cooking, simply place it all the ingredients in the bowl leaving water and cream of tartar until last and mix.

Playing with oatmeal play dough has sparked the children's imagination to play bakeries, make birthday cakes and homes for animals.

DO your children enjoy playing with oatmeal play dough and what do they like to make?
