Conker Rolling Art

Last weekend we finally found a local conker tree. We had great fun collecting those that had fallen on the floor but because it was by a busy road we couldn't really knock them out of the trees. We took the conkers home and decided to try using them for a painting activity. Conker rolling art is such as simple activity but the children love using a different resource when painting.

Resources: Autumn colour paints, paper plates or pots, conkers, paper, tray.

The children had fun rolling the conkers in the paint, making sure they were completely coated in paint.

We placed them in the tray, on top of the paper. To begin with we did this one at a time but in wasn't long before Little man decided it would be much more fun to watch them all roll together.

When dipping the colours we used this as an opportunty to discuss the Autumn colours we were using and how they could be found in the garden.

Little man enjoyed watching the conkers race across the page and cheering for his current favourite colour red. We plan to display these ones along with our other Autumn art which I plan to feature soon.

  1. I love doing this with marbles, we do it at Christmas and sprinkle glitter on top. With conkers is a fab idea, thanks! Sadly I have not seen ANY this year! Must look harder! And will try it, blog and link back to you if we manage! :)
