Shapes in Space

At the moment I have been trying to focus on getting Little Man to know his shapes. With World Space Week upon us I decided to incorporate both into our art project this morning. If you'd like to take part in sharing your ideas for World Space Week feel free to grab these fab badge.

Playful Learners

I cut out a selection of paper:

Circles

Rectangles

Squares

Triangles

and supplied little man with:
Scissors

Glue

confetti stars

Pictures of space

Little man quickly got to work by putting glue on his shapes and placing them on the paper.

I think the finished piece looks beautiful. While he was sticking I used the opportunity to drop in the names and colours of the shapes. By the end he was regularly using the words circle and triangle. I plan to do more work like this to help encourage the use of shape language.

This is part of the World Space Week blog hop co-hosted by some brilliant bloggers from the KBN group.

  1. That is a really good idea - and I have different boxes of shapes cut out of paper to teach shapes too.
    Thanks for sharing.

  2. So cute. Amazing how the simplest things are often best! My kids would love to make pictures from basic shapes.
