Product Review: Fisher Price Rainforest Friends Musical Lion Walker

Tinnie is now 9 months almost 10 in fact and his physical development is coming on leaps and bounds. His standing up and walking around the furniture, his even trying to take his hands off and stand alone. To add in his development we took up the offer of reviewing the Fisher Price Rainforest Friends Musical Lion Walker.

The description for the walker explains that 'baby’s actions make fun things happen- helping baby discover cause & effect'. Tinnie has not worked this out yet. He currently plays with the toy and gets excited when the tunes start to play but he has not yet worked out that his actions and the music turning on are linked.

Fisher Price share the following learning opportunity which as be achieved from playing with the walker for children aged between 6 and 36 months:

Fine Motor
• Spin, flip, press! Lots of busy hands-on activities help strengthen fine motor skills!
Sensory
• Lights, music and hands-on fun stimulate baby’s developing senses of sight, sound and touch!
Balance & Coordination
• Sitting up for play, or standing, walking and pushing the lion along, helps baby develop balance and coordination, too!
Gross Motor
• Lights dance and music plays as baby pushes lion along, encouraging baby to walk.

Within a week and with a little help from his sister Tinnie was starting to use it to walk. He loves to steam it up and down the living room now. I do find he doesn't pay much attention to the musical games on the front but I think this is because he see's it more as a tool to get around the room. When he does play with the lion itself he like to flip the mirrors flap and look at him self, this is great for developing his pincer grasp as Tinnie does not like to give up and has great concentration. The walker has helped to grow his confidence at standing and to take steps. His balance is getting a lot better and his now also taken his first step on his own at only 10 months.

Little man who is 4 now also loves this walker. You have to stand out of the way when his playing with it as he runs fast without watching for peoples feet but he also uses the front of the lion as a computer or a dial for a phone. Tinnie is never impressed at having to share his lion so I guess the toy is also teaching them both to share.
