Product Review: Boom Boom Balloon

Every year around this time there are lots of adverts on TV for board games for Christmas. One game which stuck out to us so far this year was Boom Boom Balloon which has been sent to us to review by Spin Master Toys.

I'm a fan of group played games as they are very handy for Childminding older children, they are great for keeping them busy while your waiting for dinner to cook or to break the ice when a new child starts. We tried this game out on a Friday afternoon while the whole family could get involved.

It's worth noting that if you are going to play this game it needs to be done on a solid surface away for young children. The idea of the game is to pop the balloon and of course little pieces of latex could be dangerous for small children. The game is designed for children aged 8+.

I love that this game is quick and easy to set up, in fact even P who is 8 can set it up her self. The idea is that you take it in turns to push the rods through the frame and into the balloon. Player's take it in turns to rolled the dice numbered 1-3, to see how many clicks they will have to complete their turn.   The rods have ridges to create the clicks and also stop the rods from popping back out.

The children started off a little apprehensive of taking their turn but once they had seen the balloon pop once they became a lot more confident at playing. It's a great game for burning a little time and I found that if you do not blow the balloon up so much the game will last a little longer.

Game length: roughly 15 minutes
Age: 8+
Number of players: 2+ but great with 4
