Sensory Bin Fillers: Hair Gel

We are part of an exciting series called 40 Sensory Bin Fillers, initiated by Little Bins for Little Hands.
This week is was our turn and a favourite play my older children enjoy is a sensory bin of hair gel!! so we will be revisting an old post where the children explored hair gel used with a under the sea themed mat and plastic sea animals.

This week we tried an activity which we have not explored for a while. Using hair gel is a great idea for sensory ideas,  I think of it as a type of instant Jelly. Which is a great material for a mum like me who leaves everything till last minute. Hair gel is not only an easily resource to prepare but its also cheap to buy. I brought one which was for sensitive skin and fragrance free.

To begin with the children I look after started off nervous to put their hands into the hair gel. This is normal in our house when it comes to using sensory tubs. They picked up the sea animals with their finger tips and used the animals to move around the hair gel.

As usually happens it didn't take long for the children to get their hands stuck into the hair gel and start  experienting with how the hair gel moves and the sounds they could make with it. They loved the feel of it in between their fingers and the slight feeling of it sticking to their hand and the table.

Ever tried filling your sensory bin with hair gel? If you have I would love to see how you used it. There is a link below for you to do just that!!
