Setting a scene with a cereal box

This week we joined in a crafty hangout where we were challenged to come up with an idea on how to craft with a cereal box. I like my children to lead the way when it comes to our crafts. I usually have an idea of what we could do in my head just in case they are not sure though.

So once the boxes were made up again after being flattened in the junk modelling bin, I invited the children to come up to the table and brain storm what we should make. Little man decided it would make a great house for a spider and ran off around the house to try and find one (there's always plenty of spider webs in our house). P had been asking a while to make an aquarium out of a cereal box yet on this day she decided to make a scene of the sky for her golden eagle to fly around in.

P drew out her Golden Eagle and then cut her out carefully.

The box was then lined with tissue paper.

P decided tree's would be essential for her Egales environment so she darted out into the garden for twigs. As you can see she came back with some lovely one. Shame they had buds though!

And here is her finished Eagle.

If you would like a few more ideas to inspire your cereal box crafts, this week Red Ted Art explains how to make her shadow puppet theatre and her  beautiful picture frame for keeping children's art work. Plus 2 Point 4 showed us how to use a box as a weaving loom. Kids Chaos show us how to make some pots for seedlings and Me and My Shadow share their secret book  where Ruby hides all her special things.

  1. I love this idea. And very glad it chanced from a spider house! Eek!
