Product Review: TTS Messy Play Tray

I think it would be fair to say that Playful Learner's features mainly messy play activities, This has always been Little Man's favourite type of activities and the site has grown and changed with him as he has got older. Now Tinnie is here the sensory play is set to continue and This Messy Play Tray (Tuff Spot) we were sent by TTS to review will help to make sure every one can join in.

Our sensory activities are normally done in a small tray indoors or trug in the garden. These can work perfectly fine but after working in nurseries I know there was better things out there to use. Now that I'm childminding again I had an excuse to accept this Messy Play Tray from TTS to review.

The Messy Play Tray is great for providing an area for messy play and sensory play. The size works well to encourage group play and can be used on a table or on the floor. It measures 94cm's. TTS also offer a wide range of  active world mats which can be placed inside the tray to aid small world play.

We were sent the Mini beast mat to try in our Messy tray and although we do own a collection of plastic mini beasts Little Man decided his Dinosaurs would enjoy playing on it first. We enjoyed going area pretending the dinosaurs were squashing the plants and eating the worms. The mat was great for helping Little man to use his imagination and being made from Water proof PVC the tray could still be filled with soil,  bark or any other messy ingredients.

The images on the tray are very realistic and Little Man was a little nervous to play on it to start with until I started to model how he could use the mat. They are a great addition to the tray and I think the stands to place the tray on would also be fantastic for older children.

So far we have used the Messy play Tray with ball's  and also Junk modelling materials for Tinnie. We have also used it with cereal for Little man to practice mark making but there are plenty of other ideas which would work well in this tray such as:

The great thing about the tray is that it's hard wearing and washes clean easily so it will hopefully last us a long time.

Disclaimer: this messy play tray was sent to us to review. All opinions are my own and we look forward to sharing more of our ideas for this mat soon.
